The Idea
Looking for a way to use and protect your favorite paper (cardboard) coasters? So was I, and that's what led me to create The Coaster Case Company, LLC.
Whether from a brewery, coffee shop, restaurant, or winery, souvenir coasters are a great way to preserve memories of special events and places. The problem is that most coasters are designed to be disposable. They can easily be damaged by spills, stains, bent corners, and everyday wear. Like many collectors, I wanted a way to protect and display them without permanently altering them.
I explored other preservation methods, including resin and epoxy coatings, but they seemed complicated and outside my comfort zone. I wanted a solution that was simple, practical, and allowed the coaster to remain visible and usable.
Building the Solution
Before I knew it, I purchased a 3D printer, a sheet of acrylic, and a Dremel tool and was building prototypes.
The first version helped protect the coaster from spills and prevented damage from handling, but there was plenty of room for improvement. Over time, the design was refined, engineered, and tested into a product that is both functional and an attractive addition to a home or office.
Once the design was finalized, the journey continued. Finding a patent attorney, working with manufacturers, developing packaging, arranging shipping, and building this website have all been part of an educational and rewarding experience.
The Product Today
Today, The Coaster Case™ is a patented coaster protector that allows collectible cardboard coasters to be protected, displayed, and easily exchanged as the seasons change, new adventures are experienced, and new memories are made. It also functions as a coaster itself, helping protect furniture from condensation and water rings.
What began as a personal solution to preserve a favorite coaster has grown into a product that helps others protect the memories and stories behind their own collections.
It has been quite a journey, and I look forward to seeing where it leads next.
